| Charity is very important in the daily life of people in rural Ireland. Be it for projects in the local school or church, for a new football pitch, for a new roof for the primary school. Whatever the cause is - the people of the small communities generously contribute whenever they can - all year round.

| Sometimes people do weird or embarrassing things and everybody watching pays for the 'show'.

| Every St. Stephen's Day a good two dozens of tough people of our village Glengarriff gather at the pier of our beautiful harbour surrounded by plenty of spectators.

| Whether old or young, skinny or big: You in your warm coat get goosebumps from just watching them jump into the cold December sea. This year is was much warmer than last winter but anyway... I get a chill from just posting those photographs... The swimmers get a hot whiskey afterwards and the the paying spectators too then everybody goes home for the traditional Christmas dinner with turkey, lots of sweets and alcohol.

Wenn's Kind Plätzchen backt, naht Weihnachten wohl doch in Riesenschritten. | Now that the child is baking biscuits Christmas is apparently quite near.

| It is quite warm outside, 11 degrees C (almost 52 F), even in the evenings... a year ago we couldn't leave our house due to the white roads and we were constantly stuffing wood into our stove. Do you see the providers of the most delicious cheese? They were not amused about me walking our dog in their territory.

| I bought the first China ware for our guest house. It is so dark that I could hardly take pictures.

| The plates and cups and bowls are all from Rosenthal which is one of the really expensive German brands, here I found pieces which were cheaper than the cheapest plates you can find, probably from an older collection. It is really white and not grey.

| But if you see the sky no wonder. That's the view into Kerry from the Turner Tunnel up the Caha Pass.

wo bleibt die zeit | where does the time stay

Schon wieder zehn Tage vergangen. | Again ten days have past. Very soon it will be spring again. At least that's what some of our narcissi think, they are a few inches tall.

|  Brought those magazines about white and upcycled living from my last two trips to Germany and Austria, they are really inspiring.

patina

| My parents had two huge trunks as we moved from continent to continent every other year. Somehow made of a wooden frame and some leatherlooking stuff between. I loved thise pirate's treasure chests which made me dream about long journeys and adventures. I have been looking for something similar over the past few months.

Yesterday I was browsing through the local charity shop to get some material but I didn't find anything. When I left the place I hardly looked at the usual box at the door. There are always some half broken plastic toys and the sign "for free". But there it was. A shy and modest suitcase. Old fashioned, sewn of worn leather, slightly smelly of basement or attic. It kind of smiled at me and whispered: do you want to rescue me? Of course I wanted. I took it and really felt great to carry such a stiff and heavy piece of luggage, almost smelling the adventures which it went through long time ago.

| It is not too cold but it can be cozy anyway, especially for our cat. But it doesn't feel like shortly before Christmas.

| Even if our Blue Cottage look like an advent calendar (sorry slightly blurred).

| When I saw some rhododendron flowers on the last day of November I could hardly trust my eyes.

Froher zweiter Advent! | Today I saw another shrub almost in full flower... anyway... I wish you a nice pre-Christmas Sunday!
